Alliston Provides Training, Promotes Employment for People with Disabilities through Fellowship Work in Kenya (MS UCEDD)

Dr. Alliston recently had the opportunity to share his expertise and enthusiasm for transition to adulthood in Nairobi, Africa, through the Professional Fellows Program on Inclusive Disability Employment (PRP-IDE). PFP-IDE is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and is implemented by the Association of University Centers on Disabilities, the Institute for Community Inclusion, and Humanity and Inclusion.

Ohio UCEDD Program Director Supports Employment Transition Project in Africa

AUCD network members and international alumni of the Professional Fellows Program on Inclusive Disability Employment (PFP-IDE) are creating lasting progress for inclusive employment in Africa! Dr. Margo Izzo, Program Director at The Ohio State University Nisonger Center, visited Tanzania to promote transition models with PFP-IDE alum Gwaliwa Mashaka, a deaf social entrepreneur who champions education and employment of women and girls with disabilities in science.

The Boggs Center (NJ UCEDD/LEND) Celebrates Graduation of New Jersey Partners in Policymaking Class of 2018-2019

The Boggs Center on Developmental Disabilities hosted a graduation ceremony to celebrate the accomplishments of the New Jersey Partners in Policymaking Class of 2018-2019. New Jersey Partners in Policymaking is a leadership development and advocacy education program for adults with developmental disabilities and family members available through The Boggs Center with funding from the New Jersey Council on Developmental Disabilities. This year's graduates included 10 self-advocates and 15 family members prepared to work toward meaningful change in our state.

Vanderbilt Kennedy Center (IDDRC, UCEDD, LEND) SENSE Theatre enriches performances with Musical Talent from Artist on the Autism Spectrum

Vanderbilt Kennedy Center (IDDRC, UCEDD, LEND) investigator Blythe Corbett and participants of the Winter 2019 SENSE Theatre program recently performed the original musical "The Makeover" to appreciative audiences. Their performances were the culmination of practice and hard work put in by young actors with autism spectrum disorders (ASD), typically developing peer actors, and, new this year, a new musician who is also on the spectrum.

Enhancing the Resources, Programmatic Efforts, and/or Advocacy regarding Supported Decision-making for Adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities who use Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC).

This is an invitation for collaborative proposals which focus on the development of additional resources, programmatic models, and/or advocacy related to Supported Decision-Making (SDM) for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities who use Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC).

The AUCD Leadership Academy is a week-long program designed to enhance the skills of current and emerging leaders from the disability network to build coalitions to improve systems of supports and services. The Leadership Academy seeks participants from UCEDDs, LENDs, and their disability partners to come together to immerse themselves for a week of study, shared experiences, self-evaluation, and skill development. Participants will engage with their cohort, Academy staff, local coaches, and national allies in the year following the experience. The Academy will focus on the exploration of shared values and commitments to civil and human rights, assessments of personal and leadership strengths, skills in building partnerships to achieve collective impact, and establishing personal and professional leadership goals.
